If you like vintage portable radios, you'll find this book interesting. The author gives you a history of radio before getting in depth in the portable era. My only criticism is, being a collector of pre-war luggage-style portables, I wanted for more sets to be pictured. That section is just a few pages, but the info is interesting. My only reason for not giving it a full 5-stars. Worth adding to your vintage radio library though.
A fascinating book, I couldn't put it down.More than just a list. It covers the culture and the people behind the radios.
Lots of great information here, but probably the best parts of the book are the photos of classic radios. It's a must for people interested in this topic.
IF you want to know anything and/or everything there is to know about the evaluation of Portable Radios here in the US, this is the book to have. He starts out in the 20's with information about "portables", radios with heavy batteries strapped to Bicycles and buggies, to the present with Shirt pocket and smaller radios. Lots of Photos of Popular 40's & 50's models. A great book for a person who Collects old Radios.
