Darlene M. Van Tiem, PhD, CPT, CPLP, is an associate professor emerita at the University of Michigan–Dearborn and faculty member of Capella University. Previously, Van Tiem served as Human Resources Training Director for Ameritech (now AT&T) Yellow Pages and Curriculum Manager for General Motors Technical Curriculum. James L. Moseley, EdD, LPC, CHES, CPT, is an associate professor at Wayne State University's College of Education Instructional Technology Program. In addition to teaching, he serves as both an internal and external consultant in program evaluation, performance improvement, and health education. Joan C. Dessinger, EdD, CPT, is the founder of The Lake Group, a performance improvement consulting group that has partnered with national and international business, education, manufacturing, healthcare, and service organizations since 1985. Very good information. I earned an A in my doctoral course so, I must have learned something from the book.:)

Bougth this as it was a required text fo a class. There are infomrative chapters, worksheets and ID tools that are useful. We also used a lot of the case studies in the book. I good text with useful tools.

I bought this kindle textbook to supplement my course text and it's much better than the required text. The kindle version is easy to use, also.

Fine book. Great condition.

As someone who comes at the Workplace Learning and Performance World from the workplace learning side, I found this book to be unbelievably beneficial. I would recommend this book for anyone who is either looking to become a human performance technologist or someone who just wants to improve her or his workplace.

This new version includes two case studies of each section, which is not provided in the last version. I think this is pretty cool!

This book has a lot of soft advice for performance improvement with no real actionable advice. I found the lack of exemplars particularly frustrating because you have nothing to compare what they are saying to. They gloss over many pieces that they themselves say are critical but don't expand on. It was useless to me.

About the Author

Francis Oakely is Edward Dorr Griffin Professor of the History of Ideas Emeritus at Williams College and President Emeritus of the College. He is also President Emeritus of the American Council of Learned Societies. He has held appointments at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, at the National Humanities Center, and at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. During the 1900-2000 academic year, he was the Sir Isaiah Berlin Visiting Professor in the History of Ideas at Oxford University. In 200l he gave the Merle Curti Lectures in intellectual history at the University of Wisconsin/Madison, and in 2002 the Gilson Lecture at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies, Toronto. His most recent book, The Conciliarist Tradition: Constitutionalism in the Catholic Church, 1300-1870 (Oxford UP, 2003) won the Roland H. Bainton History Prize of the Sixteenth-Century Society. Among his other books are Omnipotence, Covenant, and Order, Politics and Eternity, and The Western Church in the Later Middle Ages
