They now have a small window of time to make the necessary repairs and get back home.The Castle in the Stars: The Moon-King has very beautiful artwork with a compelling story that captives the reader. The story is interesting and catches the reader’s attention with its mystery and fantasy tale of space travel different to what we have learned in our world. At the same time, the characters are easy to like, their innocence and bravery make them the best candidates for this travel into the stars.This book has stunning artwork that brings to life the story that is being narrated. Its watercolor technique suits the time setting in which the story takes places and was a great choice to interpret the landscapes of outer space and the moon.Most of the characters in this expedition have their own agenda and while trying to accomplish their goals they endanger the rest of the crew members and seem to believe they are correct. In my opinion, both the king Ludwig and Seraphin father will do anything to prove they are correct.While It’s easy to follow along with the story, I do recommend you read the first book in the series to understand better the characters. I’m also interested to see where the author will take the characters after how things ended in this book.If you are a fan of Alex Alice and his work, then I recommend you Castle in the Stars: The Moon-King. In this book, a family and a king follow a logbook into the stars and end up stranded on the moon.

This is the second book in the Castle in the Stars series. This is a decent book but I continue to find the watercolor-like illustration and small caption boxes to be a bit hard to follow. I like the story and the characters though. In this book our intrepid heroes end up in the aether on their airship when the worst happens and they crash on the moon. They quickly find out that they have been betrayed by more members of their party than they originally expected and are unsure of whether or not they will ever be able to make it back to Earth.I enjoy the adventure theme to this story. I also liked that there was a quick synopsis of what happened in the last volume right at the beginning of this one. At times the illustration can be hard to see and follow (some of the characters look alike and the pictures are really small).The story in this book is getting very political and I don’t enjoy that as much as the adventure the kids had in the first volume. Still, it was decently done.Overall I didn’t enjoy this volume as much as the first one. There were too many politics and I feel like the illustration was a bit hard to follow. I am unsure whether or not I will continue this series at this point. My 11 year old son also reads this series and he felt the same way; he said it was okay but not great.

The ship has launched into the sky and is moving at a break-neck pace towards outer space. A key component of the engine is missing. The crew assumes the court spy who accidentally launched them took the component for his own country. The ship races beyond the atmosphere and soon they are headed to the moon. What will they find there?The book continues the "alternate science" from Book One. They crash-land on the moon but it turns out okay since there is a breathable atmosphere when the sun is up. Repairs to the ship and coming up with a new component are the top priority for everyone except the King, who explores the moonscape with unbridled interest.The action of the story picks up and the ending promises more story to come, though I feel like it may be dissatisfyingly slow in coming. Even so, the art is beautiful and the plot is compelling enough.Slightly recommended.

At the last moment, the King of Bavaria joined the trial of the aethership to escape the betrayal by his chamberlin to the Prussians. The engine regulator disappeared so the ship was launched into space and managed to crash land on the moon. The King went hunting for the castle of his dreams while the rest of the crew worked on repairing the ship. The King found his dream and set off on a journey farther out while the aethership returned to Earth. Once again, the artwork helps set the mood of the tale and returns the reader to the fantastic journeys reported by Jules Verne and his compatriots. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series.

Mustafah Dhada’s book, The Portuguese Massacre of Wiriyamu in Colonial Mozambique, 1964-2013, is the story of five villages that were doomed to destruction by forces bigger than they could ever imagine. The book begins with a short introduction that begins to explain to its readers why this village of Wiriyamu, that most have not heard of prior to reading this book, is so important to colonial history, and to Dhada. The book has many things working in its favor. The author used his intellectual strength to pursue the best method for collecting the data needed to uncover the whole story of what happened at Wiriyamu. He was able to use everything he learned to create a working field plan, which after some minor glitches proved to do what it was meant to do. The author read extensively into the atrocities committed and the denials of those atrocities and deemed it possible to step outside the situation and investigate the details of the case impartial to what he had previously learned. He takes the story apart from several angles. He catches the important events that led to the uprising, the involvement of each participant and why they were involved. He shows the acts committed by the Portuguese that were intended to relieve headaches, which ironically created more problems for the imperial government, and he includes the sheer number of coincidence involved in the release of the story to the media.More than just the great amount of information contained in the book, the style of writing is a major improvement over history narratives in general. This book is written like a murder mystery. One already knows who the culprit is at the beginning, but still the unveiling of the assassinations committed is at points riveting. Most students would agree, no matter how much one loves the subject of history, the text involved can be excruciatingly boring and close to painful if one has to read them for any significant length of time. Dhada’s book does not have that effect, it is written to pique the interest of the reader and keep the pages turning. That being said, the book does have a few failures in the way of completely informing the readers. One issue with the book is that from the very first pages the reader can understand that the author has an agenda. His agenda was to expose the Portuguese for the crimes they committed against their colonies, specifically the colony of Mozambique. He has a vested interest, as he explains, he once lived inside that very colony under the authority of the government he wishes to expose. This makes the assertion of this being only the facts, and an unbiased story suspect. During the process of going through he different areas of the story one can pull out a few passages that are clearly written with some bias. Some are not very important to the narrative of the story while other instances cause the complete picture to become a bit murky.This texts contribution to the historical genre is stand alone as far as this reader can tell. The book is more a work of a detective novel unraveling all the details that lead to the apprehension of a killer than a historical work, though it is a historical text in essence. The work should be seen as a model for how future historical texts are written as first-hand knowledge and passion for a subject are bound to engage the scholar in a way that no previous text has been able to do, creating a new learning environment for the new kind of student learning to study and create historical texts.

Dr. Dhada’s text is not only informative, but carefully crafted in an intriguing way, so much so that as a reader, I am never bored. The poetic text veers from a bland narrative to one that keeps me emotional and on my toes, wanting to piece all of the research together and see it in the light being presented. The research methods used and the details presented not only give readers information already present in history (though, little it may be if at all), but also new information extracted directly from participants on all sides of the massacre. It has added to the narrative, giving readers the opportunity to view history from the bottom to the top for a change. In all, I truly enjoy reading the time and effort put into this text, and it seems to be I am not the only one who sees it that way!

Few historical works have been emotional reads for me, however Dhada’s is one of them. European imperialism resulted in the massacres of many indigenous people and the Portuguese Empire is no exception. In the 60s, the Portuguese, under the leadership of Salazar and then Caetano, attempted to suppress a group of freedom fighters in Mozambique known as Frelimo. The colonial secret police (DGS) in Mozambique engaged in brutal tactics to suppress the organization including imprisonment and murder. On December 16, 1972, the DGS ambushed the tiny village of Wiriyamu, killing at least 400 men, women, and children in unspeakable ways. Dhada warns early in his work that the narrative of the massacre is not for the faint of heart and the account is truly gut-wrenching. Furthermore, the Portuguese and colonial government attempted to erase the massacre as well as the village from existence in an extensive cover up. Due to the efforts of priests within Mozambique who catalogued and recorded evidence, news of the massacre was smuggled out of the country. Much of this news was then brought to international attention by father Adrian Hastings and reporter Peter Pringle.Today, the massacre remains a sensitive topic among the Portuguese, yet its evidence is clear and Dhada’s work excels in laying it bare. The first portion of his work describes the extensive manner in which evidence for this work was collected. Although Dhada recommends that those simply interested in the narrative proceed to later chapters, I would advise all interested in the gathering of evidence for a historical work to disregard such advice and read. As a history student, his description of his process for collecting evidence, especially from oral sources was fascinating and extremely helpful. Furthermore, his interviews bring out the humanity of the victims. Those massacred in Wiriyamu were not statistics, they were mothers and fathers going about their daily work preparing for a celebration of rain; they are brothers and sons tending their cattle; they are children at play.Dhada’s work is thoroughly researched and highly readable.

I've always found Bobby's books to be right on the money and a great asset. I keep this one amongst the rest of his book at my mixing desk. It's a great go-to book when you find an unusual recording situation and need some insight as to where to place mics and what types of mics may sound better for a given situation. I recommend this book highly to people that want to learn the recording process. Check out his 4th Edition of his Mixing book to pick up the rest for when you get to the phase of mixing what you just recorded. Thanks Bobby for another great book!

Mixing Engineers Handbook, 4th edition is another solid book by Bobby Owsinski. No matter how long I’ve been at this every time I pick up one of his books I learn something new. I appreciate the practical advice that he provides in every section. I read these in the wrong order probably (Mix Engineers HB, Music Producers HB, Mixing Bootcamp & Finally Recording Engineers Handbook next up Mastering) but it doesn’t matter each one is definitely worth the $$. I've been in and out of studios since I was young & I've been teaching music technology/recording arts at a variety of colleges/universities/institutes for the last eight years. Mr. Owsinski's books and this one in particular are awesome for fundamentals as well as some more advanced concepts. They serve as a great resource/ lecture material to use with my classes. Highly recommended!

I haven't finished the whole book yet, but it sounds like an authentic book to me. In other words, I think this man know's what he's talking about, just by what I think I know comparing it to what he's writing, if that makes any sense. I like the way he writes, and I like that he gives opinions and examples of products and talks about them realistically. It seems like a very through book and I'm anxious to get back into it soon. I love Beth Vogt’s romance novels, so I was excited to read her first venture into women’s fiction. The story is told from the points of view of three sisters, all easy to identify with and maddening at the same time. I wanted to walk into the story and fix their lives, which goes to show how deep their characters are and how much they all struggle. The tangible conflict throughout the novel made redemption that much sweeter. The novel makes you think about your own family conflicts and how to identify with those you love, but don’t always understand. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series to follow the sisters through their journeys.I wasn’t’ sure at first how I felt about the main character in this story being told from a first person POV, while the other two are told from third person POV. But Beth Vogt masters it beautifully, enhancing the story with her writing brilliance.

About the Author

Wim Van Grembergen is professor at the Business Faculty of UFSIA (University of Antwerp) and is a guest professor at the University of Leuven (KUL). He teaches information systems at the undergraduate and executive level, and researches in business transformations through information technology, audit of information systems, and IT evaluation. He published articles in journals such as Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Corporate Transformation, Journal of Information on Technology Cases and Applications, IS Audit & Control Journal and EDP Auditing (Auerbach). Excerpt: This book, Strategies for Information Technology Governance, is aimed at improving the understanding of Information Technology (IT) Governance and its struc¬tures, processes and relational mechanisms. As will be defined in this book, IT Gover¬nance is the organisational capacity exercised by the Board, executive management and IT management to control the formulation and implementation of IT strategy and in this way ensure the fusion of business and IT. Theoretical models and practices regarding IT Governance will be discussed in the different chapters of this book and attention will be paid to its mechanisms, including IT steering committee structures, Balanced Scorecards, control objectives and management guidelines developed by ISACA, and relational mechanisms such as business/IT job rotation.This book brings together 14 papers on IT Governance written by academics and practitioners from different countries including Belgium, Canada, Finland, Greece, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.The authors of the different chapters have been included in the review process and have reviewed and critiqued the manuscripts of their colleague-authors. I wish to thank the contributors to this book for submitting their chapter(s) and for assisting me in the review process as well.The overall structure of this book follows a logical sequence: introducing the IT Governance frameworks in Section I; reviewing performance management mechanisms in Section II; presenting other IT Governance mechanisms in Section III; and illustrat¬ing how IT Governance can work in practice in Section IV.Section I: IT Governance FrameworksThis section introduces the IT Governance concepts and consists of three chap¬ters.Chapter I: Structures, Processes and Relational Mechanisms for IT Governance by Wim Van Grembergen, Steven De Haes and Erik Guldentops respectively from the University of Antwerp, the University of Antwerp Management School (Belgium), and the IT Governance Institute (US), defines the IT Governance concepts and overviews the different IT Governance mechanisms. It records and interprets some important existing theories, models and practices on IT Governance. The chapter is based on relevant academic and professional publications and integrates also the main contribu¬tions of the other chapters in this book.Chapter II: Integration Strategies and Tactics for Information Technology Gov¬ernance by Ryan Peterson from the Instituto de Empresa (Spain) has three objectives. First of all, to describe past developments and current challenges complex organisations are facing governing the IT portfolio of IT applications, IT development, IT operations and IT platforms. Secondly, to discuss how organisations can diagnose and design IT governance architecture for future performance improvement and sustained business growth. Finally, to provide a thorough understanding and holistic picture of effective IT governance practices, and to present a new organising logic for IT governance.Chapter III: An Emerging Strategy for E-Business IT Governance by Nandish Patel from Brunel University (UK) develops a framework for global e-business IT gov¬ernance. This framework is based on fundamental re-directions in global e-business IT governance thinking and it applies to companies that seek to integrate Internet, intranet and World Wide Web technologies into their business activities in some form of an e-business model. The framework explains and elaborates e-business strategies for cop¬ing with emergent organisations and planned aspects of IT. The basic premise of the proposed framework is that organisation, especially virtual organisation, is both planned and emergent, diverging from the dominant premise of central control in IT governance.Section II: Performance Management as IT Governance MechanismSection II: Performance Management as IT Governance Mechanism reviews IT governance mechanisms including Balanced Scorecards, business-IT alignment matu¬rity assessment models, ROI measurement and technical IT measurements. This part consists of six chapters.Chapter IV: Assessing Business-IT Alignment Maturity by Jerry Luftman fromStevens Institute of Technology (USA) discusses an approach for assessing the maturity of the business-IT alignment. The proposed strategic alignment maturity assessment approach provides a vehicle to evaluate where an organisation is and where itneeds to go to attain and sustain business-IT alignment. The careful assessment of afirm's alignment maturity is an important step in identifying the specific actions necessary to ensure IT is being used to appropriately enable or drive the business strategy.Chapter V: Linking the IT Balanced Scorecard to the Business Objectives at a Major Canadian Financial Group by Wim Van Grembergen, Ronald Saull and Steven De Haes respectively from the University of Antwerp (Belgium), Great-West Life, LondenLife, Investors Group (Canada), and the University of Antwerp Management School (Belgium) illustrates how the Balanced Scorecard concepts can be used to support the business-IT fusion. The development and implementation of an IT Balanced Scorecard within this financial group is described and discussed. An IT Balanced Scorecard maturity model is developed and used to determine the maturity level of the scorecard under review. An important conclusion is that an IT Balanced Scorecard must go be¬yond the operational level and must be integrated across the enterprise in order to generate business value. This can be realised through establishing a linkage between the business Balanced Scorecard and different levels of IT scorecards.Chapter VI: Measuring and Managing E-Business Initiatives through the Bal¬anced Scorecard by Wim Van Grembergen and Isabelle Amelinckx both from the Uni¬versity of Antwerp (Belgium), applies the Balanced Scorecard concepts to e-business projects. A generic e-business scorecard is developed and presented as a measuring and management instrument. The proposed e-business scorecard consists of four per¬spectives: the Customer Perspective representing the evaluation of the consumer and business clients, the Operational Perspective focusing on the business and IT processes, the Future Perspective showing the human and technology resources needed to deliver the e-business application, and the Contribution Perspective capturing the e-business benefits. It is argued that a monitoring instrument such as the proposed e-business scorecard is a must when building, implementing and maintaining an e-busi¬ness system because these initiatives are often too technically management and are often initiated without a clear business case.Chapter VII: A View on Knowledge Management: Utilizing a Balanced Scorecard Methodology for Analyzing Knowledge Metrics by Alea Fairchild from Vesalius Col¬lege/Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) (Belgium) addresses the problem of developing measurement models for Knowledge Management metrics and discusses what current Knowledge Management metrics are in use, and examines their sustainability and sound¬ness in assessing knowledge utilisation and retention of generating revenue. The chapter also discusses the use of the Balanced Scorecard approach to determine a business-oriented relationship between strategic Knowledge Management usage and IT strat¬egy and implementation.Chapter VIII: Measuring ROI in E-Commerce Applications: Analysis to Action by Manuel Mogollon and Mahesh Raisinghani respectively from Nortel Networks (US) and the University of Dallas (USA) focuses on measuring the Return on Investment (ROI) as a key element of the IT Governance process. The research in this chapter aims to provide an overview of how to calculate the ROI for e-commerce applications so that this information, and the attached ROI Calculator Tool Template, can be used by organisations to reduce time in preparing the ROI for a projectChapter IX: Technical Issues Related to IT Governance Tactics: Product Metrics, Measurements and Process Control by Michalis Xenos from the Hellenic Open Univer¬sity (Greece) deals with some technical aspects of the strategies for IT Governance and aims at introducing the reader to software metrics that are used to provide knowledge about different elements of IT projects. Internal metrics are presented that can be applied prior to the release of IT products to provide indications relating to quality characteristics, and external metrics are introduced that can be applied after IT product delivery to give information about user perception of product quality. The chapter also analyzes the correlation between internal and external metrics and discusses how these metrics can be combined in a measurement program.Section III: Other IT Governance MechanismsSection III: Other IT Governance Mechanisms describes other mechanisms in¬cluding roles and responsibilities within the IT organisation, the control objectives and management guidelines of COBIT, and the IT outsourcing solution. This part consists of three chapters.Chapter X: Managing IT Functions by Petter Gottschalk from the Norwegian School of Management (Norway) discusses imperatives for IT functions, organisation of IT functions, roles of IT functions, roles of chief information officers (CIOs) and key issues in IT management. A survey conducted in Norway revealed that CIOs find the role of entrepreneur most important and the role of liaison least important. This survey also revealed that "Improving links between information systems strategy and busi¬ness strategy" was ranked as most important key issue in IT management in Norway.Chapter XI: Governing Information Technology through COBIT by Erik Guldentops from the IT Governance Institute (USA) reviews the COBIT framework that incorporates material on IT Governance. COBIT presents an international and generally accepted IT control framework enabling organisations to implement an IT Governance structure throughout the enterprise. Its management guidelines component consists of maturity models, critical success factors, key goal indicators and key performance indi¬cators for 34 identified IT processes. This structure delivers a significantly improved framework responding for management's need for control and measurability of IT by providing means to assess and measure the organisation's IT environment against COBIT's IT processes.Chapter XII: Governance in IT Outsourcing Partnerships by Erik Beulen from Tilburg University (The Netherlands) is based on 11 international IT outsourcing part¬nerships, five expert interviews and on literature. Three dimensions are described in a descriptive IT outsourcing partnership governance framework: the outsourcing organisation, the maintenance of the relationship, and the IT supplier. In this frame-work, 11 governance factors are defined including the existence of a clear IT strategy at the outsourcing organisation, a mutual trust between the outsourcing organisation and the IT supplier, and an adequate contract and account management. Furthermore, the chapter focuses on the IT outsourcing contract.Section IV: IT Governance in ActionSection IV: IT Governance in Action describes the application of IT Governance structures in respectively an enterprise and in the health care industry. Section IV includes two chapters.Chapter XIII: The Evolution of IT Governance at NB Power by Joanne Callahan, Cassio Bastos and Dwayne Keyes, from New Brunswick Power Corporation (Canada) describes the IT Governance framework that NB Power has implemented. Through IT Governance the organisation was able to address the results of a diagnostic study on their internal IT service provider who was attempting to respond to a seemingly end-less list of requests for IT support. Now, after four years, factors critical to the success of implementing an IT Governance framework are evident. The IT Governance frame-work is still evolving, but the organisation is now well positioned to take advantage of its IT investment.Chapter XIV: Governance Structures for IT in the Health Care Industry by Reima Suomi and Jarmo Tähkäpää from the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration (Finland) discusses the role of IT in the health care industry and focuses on the question of which governance structures are best for managing IT within this industry. Two Finnish cases are described - a small health care federation of munici¬palities and a medium-sized health care unit - to illustrate internal and external gover¬nance structures. It is shown that internal governance structures such as developing a comprehensive business strategy are essential parts of IT Governance and that outsourcing activities suggest that there is a need for developing and managing exter¬nal governance structures.

The collection of essays that comprise this book cover the full spectrum of IT governance thought and practice. There is no single prescriptive approach to IT governance set forth in this book, but instead, approaches that address a single facet of governance, which can be used as a resource for ideas and practices.There are fourteen essays grouped under the following topics areas:- IT Governance Frameworks- Performance Management as IT Governance Mechanism- Other IT Governance Mechanisms- IT Governance in ActionAmong the most thought-provoking (in my opinion) essays are: Assessing Business-IT Alignment Maturity, Measuring and Managing E-Business Initiatives through the Balanced Scorecard, Technical Issues Related to IT Governance Tactics: Product Metrics, Measurements and Process, and Governance in IT Outsourcing Partnerships.Major standards are also addressed (see the essay titled, "Governing Information Technology through COBIT"). My only disappointment is there was no contributions by Peter Weill or Jeanne Ross, both of whom have coauthored an excellent book on IT governance titled "IT Governance: How Top Performers Manage IT Decision Rights for Superior Results" ISBN 1591392535. Overall, this is an outstanding book for senior management who are crafting an IT governance strategy.

Back in the 2004 time period, I worked for a company that was spending about $5K a month to advertise 11 different products via Adwords, and I was the lucky person who had to take over managing the campaigns. That was about 12 years ago when the AdWords system was much "simpler." Hardly. It was an absolute nightmare, and I've avoided Adwords in my career ever since. But not only is Adwords not going anywhere, it has become much more influential in digital marketing, which is exactly why people like ME need to read books like THIS ONE.Both the real-world ad examples and the AdWords screenshots in this book are super-helpful. Also, who knew that "phone call conversions" were a possibility with AdWords?! This book has provided a lot of food-for-thought not just in terms of how to manage campaigns, but how to approach them in general - from a strategy perspective. While this can be a quick weekend read, it should also serve as a good long term reference to come back to when needed.

What I like about this book is that within the first few pages you can figure out if AdWords is suitable for your business, As it turned out when I did the test I was told to proceed with caution and that AdWords may not be the ideal way of advertising for my business.Now that is a book I really like! It saved me a lot of reading that may not be applicable to my business. Just the same I'll continue reading because there are lots of explanations, including freebies, along the way which help me understand AdWords better. From what I can read, brilliant advice so far.

This is a short book that I read completely in about 1.5 hours. It was very inexpensive.I got a number of good ideas in that brief amount of time, about the same number and value as a much longer book.So, here is a book with several good ideas which does not squander time or money. What is not to like?Enthusiastically recommended.

I don't write a lot of reviews but this is a book I feel that needs one. I've been meaning to brush myself up on Adwords for awhile now, because as a small business owner, I never really realized how much money I wasted in the past with different avenues of advertising, especially within Google. I came upon this book and thought, meh, why not. 5 bucks for a paperback or $1 for the Kindle version. I'm an electronic everything guy so I opted for the Kindle version and within 5-10 pages I was already floored. After reading it front to back I put to use a lot of the practices described and it's already led me to not only gain more leads, but helped me to not overpay in the process. Any business owner looking to learn or advance in Adwords should read this...especially for the price tag. Definitely recommended!

Good short read.Probably better if you are just getting into adwords, but I expect most people would learn a couple of tricks they may not know.

This is worth buying. I can almost guarantee that you'll take at least one piece of useful information from it. I learned about "negative keywords", which is a huge revelation for my campaign.

This book should be required reading for ALL high school students who plan on applying to college. Whether you're a straight-A student or a B+ student, you should read this book before diving into the extremely competitive and confusing college application process of the modern era. Dr. Jager-Hyman's comprehensive and clear deconstruction of the college admissions process is truly enlightening, even to someone like me, who has been working extensively in the college-prep industry for several years. The book is truly extraordinary in terms of both its breadth and its depth (I'm especially fond of the pithy samples and examples), and I plan on recommending the book to all of my high school students.

Maybe I missed something in prior chapters, but I am really struggling with Appendix C "Colleges Worth Considering". I am not sure how Georgia Tech, which requires no less than 9-11 AP courses and an average GPA of 3.95 (so A's in all AP classes) made the list. And UGA, which is also trending towards an average GPA of 4.0 made the list. And University of Michigan? Not sure how she substantiates her made up list. Very disappointing.

Even though this book is targeted at B students, it should be a "must read" for all students going through the college search process and preparing to start college applications. It is the most comprehensive guide I have found. As a college search parent, I started my own website to help parents and their college-bound kids. Great to see the authors have used MATLAB to mathimatically model various simulations, however the battery modelling does not cover Lithium batteries (only lead acid and NiCd). This tells me that it has been a while since the authors really put some effort into providing a product that is valuable to the user community. I see this book as a half-hearted attempt to drum up sales. Get with the times. Do some value added work!In fact, the companion website, which is supposed to provide MATLAB examples, appears to be using 1st edition page numbering and is missing a lot of the models.If you are buying this book to help build mathimatical models to simulate your EV, don't waste your time with this lack-luster dust collector.

Don't waste time with this book 2.0. I also found truly dissapointing the 2nd edition has failing to add any value to the book. It has no treatment on regenerative braking which is one of the key functions in EVs and HEVs. The battery chapter has not been updated at all still paying attention to NiCd and NiMH batteries instead of Li-ion which are just mentioned. It would have been great to have a battery comparative treatment. The driving cycles are barely covered while it has become a big deal in evaluating new cars.5-6 years ago it was a good book, but now it's been born obsolete.

Timothy Paul Jones serves as the C. Rose Publishing has the BEST resources I've ever found. Every one with a Bible should have one of these books!I recently purchased their 10th anniversary book Bible Charts, Maps and Time Lines and it's the most valuable Book I have in my collection!This book Bible Basic The Bible at a Glance contains some of the same information in a more condensed format.It proves you with everything you need to get started reading and studying the bible in easy to read, follow and understand charts in full color.From what verses to start with, meanings of different books, different Bible versions, to study guides, plans, and more.These books should come with every bible!I own 3 of their books and love them all! Great for new Christians, old Christians who want to know more about scripture and how to study it. Great to use to make bible studies, Sunday school, and more. What a blessing!

Good study book

This is a basic guide to the Bible with lots of neat features. It touches upon what each book in the Bible is about - who wrote it, when it was written, the overall message. It includes a timeline of major Bible events, and quite a few maps of the Holy Land at various times in history (interesting to see how things changed over time). It has comparisons and samples of various Bible translations - which was very useful in helping me choose which Bible to buy and which ones are not for me! It tells you where in the Bible you'll find help for some life issues, and it has a bit of guidance and encouragement for living as Christians.It's a somewhat small book, so it doesn't delve very deep into any one area, but it presents a medley of various interesting and important tidbits of information with lots of color. The pages are glossy but unfortunately too thick and stiff.This book is nice for older kids to adults, and would make a great gift for a later-in-life Baptism or Confirmation. It's for anyone who wants to get acquainted with the Bible.

This is an excellent, full color, book for anyone wanting to learn about the Bible. It provides an overview for each book in the bible, which are neatly laid out in small boxes with a brief "who, what, where, when, why" description, as well as a "key verse" for each book. It contains maps, tips on how to read and study the bible, and "go to" versus for when you need reassurance, etc. I am just beginning my journey with the Bible and I couldn't be happier with this book. I would recommend this for young teens and adults.

This book is awesome! Our Bible Study teacher recommended it along with a class, and I really have enjoyed reading it.
