If this books is anything like the notes from the universe that I’ve been receiving via email from Mike over the past 3-4 years, then it’s absolute gold in terms of inspiration. I just ordered it, I saw it didn’t have many reviews, so I started mine. I will edit once I get the book and plunge into it.

This is not my first Mike Dooley book, so I feel I can compare it to his earlier work. The into had me in joyful tears. This love letter to his daughter will hit anyone straight through the heart and make it burst with joy, love, compassion, fear, suffering, everything at once. It encompasses why we are here on this earth and you will relate whether a parent or not (at least I think so as a human). The book is small in size, but it's dense - it does not feel short or tiny in any way. In fact, it feels big. It has huge life lessons, examples, and then a more breathing room area of quotes. I found I didn't want to digest the book at once. Instead, I've been going through sections and taking my time and really embracing the lessons. I'm evaluating, how do I pass these lessons on to my kids, how much has to be learned through life experience, and what do I still need to learn. And the truth is, a lot. We all have a lot to learn and to continue to learn. As I get older, I can read this book with a lot of hindsight and my evaluation is so different than when I first picked up a Mike Dooley years ago. But I can also tell he is different. Being a father has changed him and deepened his lessons, so it's nice that he has the ability to share that with all of us in a way we can take the baton and use it in our own lives.Is there new stuff that is not in his other books or daily emails? Yes. And the presentation is slightly different.Overall, I can say that this little book has a big impact. It's thought provoking and quite beautiful.

Best Lesbian Erotica, Vol. 3edited by Sacchi Green is an outstanding collection of short fiction. The heat level of this one is off the charts. I started reading it on the plane on my way home from a conference and quickly decided after reading the opening story "Ninjutsu" by Valerie Alexander that I would be wise to finish reading the rest of the stories at home.This collection features the most diverse group of stories to date in this series. Women of color, women who are neuroatypical, women who are recovering from cancer, older women, and women recovering from trauma are represented in this well written and well-edited collection. They are written as whole characters, not merely as foils, or means to tick a checkbox for diversity.The stories included vary in heat level from smoking hot (I"m looking at you Valerie Alexander), as well as Sommer Marsden's "Husher" and R. D. Miller's "Perfume," to sweetly sexy. I particularly enjoyed the poignant "Trying Submission" by Xan West and "Jani-Lyn's Dragon" by Nat Burns. Bravo Sacchi Green for this glorious collection.

I found this collection to be quite interesting. It contained various different types of stories that I think would appeal to different women's preferences and tastes. Some of the stores I found to be pretty hot. Others I found to be sweet. They were all quick and easy reads. The stories were well written and I enjoyed the book.I received the book in exchange for an honest review.

When I started reading lesbian erotica over 20 years ago, it was, for the most part, dismal. There were too many breakups, too much misery, and it was way too vanilla for my tastes. Lesbian erotica has changed, and thank the goddesses and gods for that! This anthology is hot, sexy, and sweet, and I'm not saying that because my girlfriend has a story in it...although I must admit that I've dog-eared that particular story!

Oh for the love of god. I had to put this down after the umpteenth description of these two panting over each other, gasping in excitement, admiring each others' perfect toned bodies. Fine, fine, she's got legs that go on for days, and he's buff, but not too buff. Ugh. There is a plot going on in the background that might come to the fore once these two have sex, but I wasn't willing to put up with them lusting over each other for 100s of pages before that finally happens and the story can actually take centre stage. I really don't like it when writers pretend they haven't embedded a Harlequin into their stories and I've seen this writer downplaying just how intrusive the lovie dovey bits are here. Don't get me wrong, I like relational stuff. There are bits in Jemesin's Broken Earth trilogy that were charming, and Bujold's love story in Shards of Honour was also lovely to follow. But this, this is crap.

Men and women generally do perceive and write differently. Military science fiction is a genre dominated by male authors and readers, and I usually have not found female authors’ perspectives to accord with my tastes. But G S Jennsen offers a clear exception to this rule. I found her perspective (one might call it romance military science fiction) to be a definitely fresh for me approach that was very much enjoyed. This different perspective was a surprising plus, not a negative, in terms of my enjoyment of the book. The science and action were still very good and constant while the emotional and character components were refreshingly different. I highly recommend this book to one and all, especially those who, like me, may have tended to avoid female authors owing to past unfavorable experiences. This book (and hopefully the rest of the series that I am about to read) stands out from all of the many other military sci fi novels I read these days.I add that I found particularly helpful her listing at the front of the book all of the characters, organized into two different formats. There are perhaps too many characters in the book. But the listing enables a reader to keep track of them. I printed it out and keep it next to my Kindle. Also the map of the galaxy and the star systems visited was very useful. Too often authors omit such guides or place them at the end of a book where the reader doesn’t know they exist until after finishing the book (when too late to be of use).

When I click on an interesting title and it opens to reveal multiple additional volumes, I am often immediately turned off. It's like a gamble you don't want to make. A commitment to read potentially thousands of pages you may not really like, but you push on, hoping it will get better. As a result, you simply move on, never giving a new author a chance to win you, the reader, over. DO NOT make that mistake with this wonderfully written, enthralling science fiction series by G.S. Jennsen. Jennsen's stories are multi-faceted adventures of intellect, true friendship and ferocious heroism. Jennsen explores not only multi-dimensional space and the compassionate treatment of the benign life forms met along the way, but the ethical implications for a humanity enhanced by artificial intelligence. Rest assured, however, hostile alien civilizations are met with commensurate force and the many battles described in this series are terrific. Thank you, Ms Jennsen, for crafting a totally addictive and entertaining series.

A pulp romance novel in a Si Fi setting. I waded through all the gushy stuff to see how it ended. It didn't. A serial like the Flash Gordon films from my youth. The book is well written and lacks spelling and grammar errors which so many self published authors inflict on us. Definitely recommend to all love starved females out there.

Starshine is the first book in the Aurora Rising series. This should not be read as a standalone as it ends in a cliffhanger for the next book. There is violence and sexual scenes. The storyline is interesting and complex...how tangled the lines are. While this storyline has promise, this book is filled with too many "key" characters and I had a hard time keeping track of who was who. (Though I was reading this book in the Rogue Stars Anthology so maybe there was a character list in the standalone book that wasn't in the anthology. I know that the second book has one right up front which would have helped me with the first book.) Even flawed as it was, this story grabbed my attention and now I am going to start the second book. I hope to figure out who was making war for the sake of war, who was making war for power, and who was helping the aliens.
