I bought this book when I found out my 3 year old son needed glasses. It really helped! It has an engaging story and makes getting glasses a little more fun. The interactive parts of the book were a plus, especially the different pairs of glasses not only for Arlo to try on, but my son too! After 3 years, this is still one of my son's favorite books. He's taken good care of it, but it's starting to show wear from so much use. I'm going to surprise him with a new copy.Edit: I originally rated this 5 stars, but knocked it down to 3 after I received the new version of the book. My son was so disappointed that the book was changed from the original. There is no longer a pull-out phoropter, just a flap to lift. The last page no longer has a pop-up of Arlo's favorite books, just a flat illustration. I'm planning to return it.

When we found out that my son was getting glasses at 3 years old we were anxious. His Grandma sent us this book, and it made the transition to glasses so much easier. My son loved the character Arlo, who is very cute. The book also is very fun because it has pop out pages and folders where you can take out different kind of glasses and try them on Arlo. Buy the book and read the book a couple of nights before your child gets the glasses because it is capable of making your child excited about getting glasses as it did ours. On top of that... he has had the glasses for over a month and he still loves the book!

Please bring back the version of this book shown in the media trailer that has the pop up of books at the end and the phoropter with the folded pull out. We love this book but these two changes make this book incomplete and frankly seems as if the publisher cheaped out.

When we found out our 4-year-old daughter was going to need glasses, we immediately started searching for a book that would help ease her into the idea of wearing them. This book is perfectly crafted to make wear glasses something to look forward to rather than resent.The phoropter page is my daughter's favorite page...in fact, her optometrist was stunned when a 4-year-old matter-of-factly declared that she wanted to look into her phoropter.What I like most about this book is how it focuses on the positives on wearing glasses...something you really need to do when you have a very young child that needs to wear glasses. While I see the place for books that bring up the negative aspects (kids making fun of you), I didn't want that message to be sent to my daughter at the stage. She wears her glasses without any resistance whatsoever, and genuinely loves the way they look. Nobody makes fun of her at pre-school...it just never comes up.I whole-heartedly recommend this book to anyone who has a young child that needs to wear specs. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

My 3 year old son needed glasses. I wanted to find books about glasses to read to him in preparation. I was really struggling finding anything decent. I saw this book on Amazon and was really hesitant to spend $17 on a book I couldn’t at least see first. It is worth EVERY penny! It has tons of cool features like paper eye glasses that you can take out of their case to try on a pop of version of Arlo. I would highly recommend this book. My son and I love it!

Great Read! I am very skeptical about things and that can be a good or bad thing. Reid has worked in service provision for adults with autism and other severe disabilities for over 40 years, and has published numerous journal articles and book chapters on selected aspects of adult services. As far as Angel was concerned, room Eel-Twelve was the best place at sea school. Ms. Harbor, Angel’s teacher, always made school paw-some. Every lesson since the first day had been filled with as much fun as facts. Each morning, Angel couldn’t wait to get to class, because every day felt like it would be the best day ever. “You’re swimming too fast!” said a white purrmaid on Angel’s left. “My hair is getting messed up!” “Yeah, Angel,” panted an orange kitten on Angel’s right. “Please slow down!” Angel smiled. The complaining purrmaids were Angel’s two best friends in the entire ocean. Shelly was the one with white silky fur. She was very picky about the way she looked and never wanted a single strand of fur out of place. Coral was the kitten with the orange fur. She was the smallest one in their group, and she didn’t like having to swim twice as fast just to keep up. Coral and Shelly were Angel’s favorite things about Eel-Twelve. They were in the same class. That meant that Angel got to spend the entire school day with her best friends. What could be more purr-fect? “I thought you both liked to be early for school,” Angel teased. “We can be early without swimming like a shark is chasing us!” Coral yelped. “All right!” Angel laughed. I thought it would be a simple reading book with just a few lines of text on each page. I was so happy to see it's a detailed, interesting, 'true' reading book, with lots of details in the story. It has large print so it's easy to read. It will keep your little mermaid reading about merkitties and purrmaids and entertained for quite some time!

She read it as soon as I brought it home and will probably revisit it again and again. She really enjoys these books. Will continue to support the author by buying the books as long as my daughter wants them.

Black and white pictures inside. Not age appropriate for a five year old.

My grand daughter LOVED this series and spent extra time reading them! AND I got a lot of extra hugs...score!

Cute characters & story. Only complaint is there could be more pictures- it’s challenging to read this with my 6 year old without her getting bored.

My daughter had the first book from her school's book fair and wanted to read the rest. Perfect reading material for a first grade, and as long as she reads I'm happy
