This book was written originally in the early 70's, and hasn't been updated much since then. Because computing power was relatively low at the time, the models in this book were relatively simple. These models are still being used today. They make a good first cut for a power system model, before you start adding the details that make a general power system model into a specific model.Some of the information relating to mechanical control systems is pretty irrelevant due to its replacement with electronics, but the rest is purely classic. Additionally, some of the appendices have useful constants and information for various machine sizes that can be hard to come by. If you work with power system modeling and control, then this is a required book for you.
Good book but it's 10 years old. I'm an engineer in the power industry looking for information on generator modeling for power systems. I would like something more in line with the new system stability models.

I first thought this is a real revision of the older book of the two respectful professors but after I received the book I found it just a newer print and not a revised print. If I had to comment I would comment on the original book as being an excellent book on power system stability and modeling. I used it a lot in my MS degree studies but again I will never forget my shock when I received the new print. Now I have two copies on my shelf.
Although old but this book is really one of the top books in the area of power system stabilization and control.The book provides the principles of electrical machine modelling which are explained with many examples. The last chapter gives a brief idea of modeling of multi-machine systems.
