About the Author
In the early 1940s, a loving father crafted a small blue wooden engine for his son, Christopher. The stories that this father, Reverend W. Awdry, made up to accompany this wonderful toy were first published in 1945. He continued to create new adventures and characters until 1972, when he retired from writing. Reverend Awdry died in 1997 at the age of 85.Richard Courtney is a published illustrator known for his colorful work in the children’s book series Thomas & Friends.

We absolutely love Step Into Reading books. What a winning combination - Thomas and animals! Short, but fun stories to help a young reader gain confidence. Level One is geared towards preschool and kindergarten and Level 2 is Preschool to Grade 1. I purchased this for a three year old. He uses the pictures to tell his own story! So yes, he reads to me sometimes! Fun story and an awesome price point!
Bought this book as my son loved "Happy Birthday Thomas" and requested it nightly for several months. This book just seemed to fall flat compared to that other early reader. I realize its a fictional book, but lions jumping over relaxed/calm people on lawn chairs seemed odd, and the words didn't flow as easily.
Ordered because my 2 year old daughter loves most things Thomas and Friends. This, however, does not go over well. The cover implies a visit to the zoo, but it is a circus visit instead. The animals look rather scary and menacing to a young child and to myself. We will donate it and hope it doesn't repel other little minds.
This book promotes the circus, so I hated it. Thomas, you need to capture the animals and take them back to their natural habitats. THAT would be a good adventure. Who cares if some lousy kids don’t get to see the circus? Their parents should teach them better.
This is a book about the circus--- of which we are not fans. I thought it would be Thomas with safari animals. Disappointed.
I love it. It's one of those beginner reader books. I didn't take long for our 4 year old Granddaughter know it by heart
Good Thomas book. If you have a Thomas fanatic they will love it!
If your child likes Thomas, and likes stories, this book is for you. My son is 2 and loves to be read to. I found that this book was an excellent choice b/c it's simple for him to follow, the illustrations are great and it's a quick read for bedtime or naptime. This is a must for any little fans of Thomas and Friends.
